ADF Sponsors Summer StoryTent at Valencia Park

Thank You (1).png

Summer learning loss is a critical issue for many students in low-income communities and one that has been exasperated by COVID-19. That’s why we’re proud to partner with Applied Data Finance (ADF) to expand our summer program and offer scholarships to 35 students at Valencia Park Elementary in Southeast San Diego.

Each student will have weekly one-on-one reading sessions with a trained mentor and receive books and prizes. Based on past program outcomes, we expect that more than half of these students will show gains in either reading proficiency, fondness for reading, or personal confidence!

At ADF, empowering people to achieve their best is part of the business plan.Through its www.personifyfinancial.com. brand, ADF is the trusted financial partner for thousands of underestimated under-banked consumers.  Driven by the mission “Giving the underbanked the credit they deserve” ADF is setting a new standard for assessing non-prime borrower credit and fraud risk.

Each year, ADF chooses a non-profit to support – and the past few years have chosen San Diego based organizations.  Employees come together to collect items and donations to meet the needs of the non-profit.

“I wanted to rally employee support for Traveling Stories because I have been a volunteer for several years and admire the devotion of the organization to get kids to read at a young age,” said Michelle Nguyen, ADF’s Director of Finance. “As a mother, I know how crucial it is for children to learn to read by the age of 8.  The reading programs that Traveling Stories offers here in San Diego are needed nationwide!”

Valencia Park is a public, STEAM magnet school located in Southeast San Diego. It has over 500 students in grades K-5. According to state test scores, 41% of students are at least proficient in math and 37% in reading. Lead by Principal Lori Moore, the school has a strong positive presence in the community with high levels of parent engagement. Teachers and administration encourage students to be courageous learners who are equipped with the knowledge and curiosity to make a difference in our school, our community, and in our world. Traveling Stories is proud to partner with Valencia Park!
