of Rose Sandler
Rose Sandler was a beloved friend and volunteer. She gave with all her heart to help those in need. We will forever be inspired by her.
Rose was adventurous and set off on quests that most people only read about in books. She went diving in the Caribbean, hiking in Patagonia, lobster fishing in Maine and camel riding in the Gobi Desert.
She rode in countless horseback races. She completed the 655-mile Mongol Derby in 2014, competed in the 250-mile Race the Wild Coast in South Africa in 2016 and was named “Rookie of the Year” in the 100-mile Tevis Cup in California in 2017.
Rose began volunteering with Traveling Stories in 2016. From reading with children at the StoryTents to mending our torn canopy bags, Rose was all-in! She attended our fundraising events, got her friends and family involved, and told great stories!
Sadly, on November 23, 2020, Rose lost her battle with depression and passed away. She was only 39.

Together with Rose's family, we wish to keep her memory alive by paying it forward to children in need. Whether you knew Rose Sandler or not, we invite you to honor her life by donating in her memory. We’ve set up two funds in memory of Rose:
Rose’s Books
Rose’s Books will distribute copies of Rose’s favorite children’s books to students in Traveling Stories’ program.
Rose’s Scholarships
Rose’s Scholarships will award program scholarships to give students access to one-on-one reading support with Traveling Stories.
