New Partnership with MAAC

Traveling Stories is proud to announce a new partnership with MAAC Project, a San Diego-based nonprofit that serves over 75,000 people every year.

MAAC’s mission is “maximizing self-sufficiency with families and individuals through high-quality programs and advocacy in our communities.” The organization provides a range of services including:

  • affordable housing

  • child development

  • education, and

  • economic development

Traveling Stories and MAAC will collaborate to host four events this year for residents at MAAC’s largest affordable housing complex, the Hillside Views Apartments. The apartment building is located in Emerald Hills off of highway 94.

Each event will include:

  • Free coffee & donuts

  • Free children’s book giveaway (new books)

  • Reading activities with Traveling Stories volunteers

  • Resources from other local nonprofits

The goals of the event are to build rapport with residents and increase participation in services provided by Traveling Stories and other community partners.

“Our Virtual StoryTent program provides incredible support but not enough families know about it,” said Emily Moberly, Founder and CEO of Traveling Stories. “We’re honored to have an opportunity to build connections with MAAC residents. We hope many residents will benefit from our program and look forward to hearing their ideas on how we can better serve the community.”

The first event will take place February 18, 2023 in partnership with  REEL TEENSS and Somali Family Services. The remaining three events will take place throughout the year.

Traveling Stories thanks Walter Green and Lisa Liguori for underwriting donuts and coffee for the events in 2023.
