WHY DONATE TO TRAVELING STORIES?

There are many literacy programs in San Diego! Ours is different in that it directly impacts those who need it the most, before it’s too late to make a significant change. Traveling Stories gets kids to fall in love with reading before the 4th grade.

Why do we pick the 4th grade? Kids learn to read up to the 3rd grade, from the 4th grade on they read to learn. According to the NAACP, children who are not proficient readers by the 3rd grade are 13 times more likely than their peers to not graduate!

“About 2/3 of students who cannot read proficiently by the end of 4th grade will end up in jail or on welfare.”

Traveling Stories is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization (ID# 32-0298884) dedicated to empowering kids to outsmart poverty.
