Get to Know Claire!

How long have you been volunteering with Traveling Stories and what made you decide to volunteer with us?

I started volunteering at Traveling Stories in September 2017. After hearing about Traveling Stories from peers at school, I decided to take this opportunity to help the local youth learn and practice how to read

Why do you love reading with kids at the Traveling Stories’ StoryTents?

I absolutely love Traveling Stories’ Storytents! From the welcoming staff, to the unique kids I get to work with, Traveling Stories has allowed me to grow my love of books, while also being a part of a community that encourages reading. I love being in an work environment where everybody is so pleasant and fun!

Do you have a favorite memory you can share with us about your time with Traveling Stories?

My favorite memories come from when I share the opportunity to volunteer at Traveling Stories with friends. Sharing this experience with my friends is so unforgettable because I get to show them how important reading is and how they can make their mark on preventing child illiteracy.

What is your favorite children’s book?

Wacky Wednesday by Dr. Seuss

If you were a Super Hero, who would you be and why? (Feel free to be creative!)

If I were a Super Hero, I would be Violet because even though she has incredible powers, she maintains a humble persona and doesn’t let her talent get the best of her.
