We love hearing about celebrities that not only love to read, but share their love for reading with others. Society as a whole is greatly influenced by celebrities and their likes/dislikes. Its amazing for the youth of the world to see that people like movie stars love to read just like them, and that reading is cool!
Emma Watson, known to most as the brainiac wizard Hermione Granger in the Harry Potter movies, just launched her own book club on GoodReads!
The best part about this book club is the readers and fans alike can join and participate in the discussions.
Titled “Our Shared Shelf,” the Feminist book club arose after Emma began reading numerous essays about equality for her work with UN Women.
According to Emma’s post on GoodReads, “The plan is to select and read a book every month, then discuss the work during the month’s last week (to give everyone time to read it!). I will post some questions/quotes to get things started, but I would love for this to grow into an open discussion with and between you all.”
Not only is Emma greatly encouraging everyone to have a voice in the book discussions, she also mentions her hope to often have the book’s author be a part of the conversation.
The first book to be read is My Life on the Road by Gloria Steinem. As a writer, activist, organizer, and one of the most influential leaders in the world, Gloria tells the story of her own growth in life alongside that of the ongoing movement for equality.
